Need To Move And Store? What To Know To Get Out The Door Of Your Old Place Fast

Blog

If you are planning a quick and short move but you need a professional moving company to help you with the work, there are some things to know before you get started. If you have never used a moving company and you aren't sure what the cost will be, how long it will take for them to finish, or what you should do to prepare, you want to take a minute to get organized before the big day. Here are some of the things to know while you book and plan the move.

Insist on an In Person Quote

The amount of items you describe and the square footage of the property you communicate with a moving company like Fairfax  Transfer and Storage Inc. may be able to give them a rough estimate of the cost ,but you want the fine details. You want to know how much it's going to cost to have all of the services provided that you plan to pay for, and you don't a surprising inflated price after they get to your home and start doing the work.

Know Where You Are on the Schedule

For jobs that are in town, the moving company may schedule more than one in a day to keep the movers busy. You want to know where you are at on the schedule, and if there is a chance that your time could get moved around or delayed. This way you aren't wasting your time waiting for the movers to get there.

Ask Questions About the Insurance Coverage

Every company that offers a professional moving service should be bonded. Find out what their insurance will cover, to make sure that it will cover damages to your belongings, injuries to their employees during the move and anything else that could end up costing you money. This way you know everything is protected and covered, and that you won't have to stress.

Be sure that you get more than one quote for the work that needs to be done and the items that have to be moved, so you know what the median cost in the area is, and how much you should paying. There are a lot of different companies you may be able to choose from, but you want to pick a company that has a long standing reputation in your local area, and that is affordable for you to use for your upcoming packing and moving needs.

Difficult Moves Made Easy

My husband is in the military, and our family has had to move across the country a few times throughout his career. The first time we faced a move, I was so overwhelmed that I felt like I was going to burst! We had accumulated so much "stuff" that I just didn't know what to do with it all. We ended up hiring a moving company, and we put all of the "stuff" we didn't use often in a storage unit. Once I got through the process once, our next couple of moves seemed like a breeze. I know there are other families out there facing their first moves feeling unprepared and overwhelmed, so I decided to make a blog to share moving tips and tips about using storage units wisely. I hope I can help make your move less stressful!
