Some Moving Companies Offer These Extra Services

Blog

Moving isn't easy. You can probably use all the help you can get! Hiring a moving company is a great way to take care of the actual loading, packing, and driving aspects of a move. But did you know that many moving companies also offer additional services? Here are some other services your moving company may offer to make your life easier.

Furniture Disassembly

Do you have a big dining room table, a large sectional, or an entertainment center that barely fits in your living room? These large pieces of furniture often need to be taken apart in order to move them. That's something that most moving companies will do for you upon request. This way, you don't have to unpack your own tools to take apart the furniture or spend a whole afternoon watching videos to guide you through the process. Many moving companies will also re-assemble the furniture for you once you arrive at your new home.

Appliance Hookups

If you are taking your current appliances with you to your new home, you may be able to pay your moving company an extra fee for them to hook the appliances up for you. They'll connect the fridge and oven to power, and they can even connect water hoses to your washing machines. It's nice to move in and have all of your appliances hooked up and working from day one.

Vehicle Transportation

If you have more vehicles than you have drivers in your home, getting the extra cars from your old residence to your new residence can be a hassle. Some people have a friend drive them, but if this is not convenient, you may be able to pay your moving company to transport the vehicle. They generally do this on flat-bed trucks, which is nice when you're moving a long distance. It means you won't be putting miles on the vehicle just to move it.

Storage Transport

Are you moving some things that you plan on simply putting into a storage unit? You could save yourself some time by simply having the moving company drop the things off at the storage unit for you. Most moving companies will make an extra stop as long as you're clear when you let them know what to drop off, where.

Consider taking advantage of one or more of the extra moving services listed above. They'll all simplify your life and make things easier.

Difficult Moves Made Easy

My husband is in the military, and our family has had to move across the country a few times throughout his career. The first time we faced a move, I was so overwhelmed that I felt like I was going to burst! We had accumulated so much "stuff" that I just didn't know what to do with it all. We ended up hiring a moving company, and we put all of the "stuff" we didn't use often in a storage unit. Once I got through the process once, our next couple of moves seemed like a breeze. I know there are other families out there facing their first moves feeling unprepared and overwhelmed, so I decided to make a blog to share moving tips and tips about using storage units wisely. I hope I can help make your move less stressful!
